Quartermaster
ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Growth Intern will support the companyβs efforts to expand adoption of SmartMast across government and commercial maritime markets. This role sits at the intersection of business development, strategy, and customer success, with a focus on identifying opportunities, shaping deployments, and supporting customer engagements.
Interns will gain exposure to how real-world maritime operations translate into deployable sensing networks and how those capabilities are positioned, priced, and delivered to customers.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- Duration: 10β12 weeks (summer); potential for part-time continuation during the academic year
- Hours: ~40 hours/week (summer); flexible for year-round interns depending on availability
- Team Placement: Growth / Business Development
- Location: Arlington, VA (hybrid)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct market research across priority regions and maritime sectors (e.g., maritime security, offshore energy, commercial shipping).
- Identify and assess potential customer segments, partners, and vessel platforms suitable for SmartMast deployment.
- Analyze maritime activity, vessel behavior, and operational patterns to inform deployment strategies.
- Support outbound business development efforts, including drafting outreach materials and tracking engagement.
- Assist in developing pitch materials, case studies, and operational concepts for customer engagements.
- Support development of proposals and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, including:
- Scoping deployment concepts (regions, vessel types, operational use cases)
- Identifying candidate vessels and coverage opportunities
- Supporting pricing builds and cost breakdowns
- Drafting proposal slides and supporting narrative
- Contribute to strategic initiatives related to new market entry and commercial growth.
