JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Fullstack Engineer to spearhead the modernization of our legacy Java application into a cloud-native, microservices architecture. This is a strategic, high-impact role where you will not only be a hands-on technical expert but also the architectural leader for the migration initiative. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision, making critical design decisions, and mentoring a team of engineers to ensure we build a scalable, resilient, and high-performance platform. Your leadership will be instrumental in elevating the team's productivity, code quality, and adoption of modern practices, including the strategic use of AI tooling. This role will manage 2-4 teams of 4-7 developers

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Define and enforce technical standards, architectural principles, and best practices for backend services, APIs, and database design.

- Drive key technical decisions regarding technology selection, design patterns, and long-term scalability of the platform.

- Champion the adoption of modern development practices, including the effective use of AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer, ChatGPT) to accelerate development and improve quality across the team.

- Own the technical roadmap for the modernization effort, collaborating with product and engineering managers to align priorities with business goals.

- Mentor and coach senior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

- Lead code and design reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code across the entire stack.

- Collaborate closely with front-end leads, DevOps, and product teams to break down complex projects and ensure seamless, cross-functional execution.

- Act as a technical point of contact for the project, clearly communicating progress, challenges, and architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Lead development of the most critical and complex components of the system, including core microservices, data migration strategies, and performance optimizations.

- Design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure backend services and APIs using Spring Boot.

- Oversee and contribute to database schema design, query optimization, and data access strategies using relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server) and/or NoSQL solutions.

- Ensure system reliability by implementing and advocating for robust testing strategies (unit, integration, e2e) and modern CI/CD practices.

- Troubleshoot and resolve systemic issues and performance bottlenecks across development, staging, and production environments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

- 7+ years of experience in SaaS or Enterprise Application Development with Java, with at least 2 years in a Tech Lead or similar leadership capacity.

- Expert-level knowledge of Java, the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data), and designing distributed systems.

- Deep, hands-on experience architecting, building, and deploying microservices in AWS (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS).

- Mastery of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), including advanced performance tuning, complex query optimization, and database design for scale.

- Significant front-end experience with Angular, with the ability to guide frontend-backend integration strategies.

- Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers, conducting technical reviews, and making impactful architectural decision
