ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead and support networking operations across both on-premises datacenters and cloud environments (Azure and AWS) for our PatientKeeper platform.

This role will be responsible for maintaining high availability, security, and performance across hybrid systems that bridge legacy on-prem deployments and modern cloud architectures.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise with enterprise networking (Cisco ASA, HAProxy, VPNs, routing/switching), strong familiarity with Azure and AWS networking services, and a passion for building secure, resilient infrastructures.

The Logistics: Remote, U.S.-based role requiring availability for core day shift operations and mandatory off-hours critical incident coverage.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

CORE NETWORK OPERATIONS

- Manage configuration, deployment, and maintenance of core networking components across on-prem and cloud (Azure/AWS) environments.

- Oversee connectivity between data centers, cloud regions, and customer VPN tunnels.

- Maintain routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure including Cisco ASA, Opnsense, and HAProxy load balancers.

- Monitor and optimize network performance using PRTG, Zabbix, or similar tools to ensure 99.9%+ uptime and performance SLAs.

SECURITY, ACCESS, AND CERTIFICATES

- Administer and rotate SSL/TLS certificates and VPN credentials for internal and customer-facing systems.

- Support integration with Active Directory / Azure AD, ensuring proper synchronization and access control.

- Maintain and enhance network segmentation, zero-trust policies, and content filtering frameworks.

- Collaborate with the Security and Compliance teams on vulnerability management and log encryption (PGP key handling, SIEM integrations).

CLOUD NETWORKING

- Design and support Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), ExpressRoute, Private Link, and Network Security Groups (NSGs).

- Manage AWS VPCs, Transit Gateways, Security Groups, and hybrid VPN connections.

- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering to ensure secure interconnectivity between PatientKeeper cloud components and on-prem resources.

DOCUMENTATION & TRANSITION READINESS

- Create and maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs.

- Participate in the knowledge-transfer and shadowing process to ensure continuity of operations as legacy ownership transitions.

- Proactively identify “single-point-of-failure” processes and propose mitigation strategies.

WHAT YOU HAVE

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

- 6+ years of experience in enterprise networking with exposure to both on-prem and cloud environments.

- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewall management.

- Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA, HAProxy, and Meraki network stacks.

- Proficiency with Azure and/or AWS networking services (VNets, VPCs, VPNs, Peering, Security Groups).

- Working knowledge of Active Directory / Azure AD integrations and identity-based network policies.

- Familiarity with PRTG, Zabbix, or similar monitoring and alerting systems.

- Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates, key rotation, and PGP encryption workflows.

Good to Have

- Cisco CCNP / CCNA

- AWS Certified Advanced Networking or Azure Network Engineer Associate

- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certification
