Ophthalmology Medical Billing & AR Virtual Assistant – (Athena EMR) Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Billing & AR Virtual Assistant to support billing operations for a comprehensive ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing insurance claims, denials, and Accounts Receivable (AR), with proficiency in Athena EMR/EHR. Key Responsibilities Handle insurance claims, denials, and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes Follow up on unpaid, rejected, or denied claims with insurance providers Work within Athena EMR/EHR to manage billing activities and patient records Maintain accurate billing documentation and ensure records are up to date Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement issues Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience handling insurance claims, denials, and AR within a comprehensive ophthalmology practice Hands-on experience using Athena EMR/EHR Strong understanding of medical billing processes and insurance follow-up Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment
