Senior Member of Technical Staff
Atomic
About Us
Atomic is the leading venture studio for company creation, partnering with extraordinary founders to launch businesses that reshape massive industries. We co-found companies by pairing ambitious talent with validated ideas, operational support, and early-stage capital—helping them move faster, smarter, and with greater impact.
Since 2012, Atomic has launched over 30 companies including Hims & Hers, OpenStore, Found, Bungalow, Homebound, and Replicant, generating billions in enterprise value. We have offices in Miami, NYC, and San Francisco, and a distributed team across North America.
Our latest venture, AGI Labs, is reimagining how mid-sized insurance agencies operate by applying the most advanced AI capabilities to a highly fragmented and operationally burdensome sector.
We’re building the AI-native infrastructure to power the next generation of insurance services.
Mid-sized insurance agencies are drowning in manual workflows, legacy software, and administrative overhead. We see an opportunity to build an end-to-end AI automation platform that streamlines back-office operations, enhances decision-making, and unlocks growth for this underserved segment of the insurance industry.
We're backed by top-tier investors and have deep conviction in the demand from our earliest agency partners. We’re building in collaboration with early adopters to test, refine, and deploy real-world vertical AI tools—and we're just getting started. This is a chance to join at the ground level, shape vertical AI workflows from 0-1, and help create something truly transformative.
The Role
As a Member of Technical Staff, you'll be a core technical contributor building high-impact systems from 0→1. You'll work closely with the founding team (and Atomic's seasoned product and recruiting support) to design, build, and ship products that define the company's technical foundation.
You'll play a deeply hands-on role in writing code, architecting systems, iterating with customers, and prototyping core products. As an early engineer, you'll set technical precedents, make key architectural decisions, and own end-to-end delivery of critical features that will shape the company's trajectory.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Product Development: Own critical features of the engineering roadmap, driving rapid iteration based on user feedback and business needs.
- Agentic Automation: Build agentic browser automation that indexes pages and navigates complex portals.
- Design and implement core components of our AI-first insurance operations engine: agentic workflows, intelligent routing, and real-time data orchestration.
- AI Optimization: Craft precise prompting systems, fine-tune models, and develop evaluation frameworks to deliver consistent, reliable results from probabilistic systems.
- Develop and own prompting systems, model fine-tuning pipelines, eval frameworks, and toolchains for generative and retrieval-based LLM applications.
- Data Infrastructure: Architect and scale data systems that integrate first- and third-party sources to create unified, holistic customer profiles—unlocking smarter decision-making and personalization.
- Build scalable, modular APIs that allow for customer- and team-facing applications to plug in and evolve.
What We’re Looking For
- 6–8 years of engineering experience with a track record of shipping impactful products
- Demonstrated experience in building generative AI products
- Strong technical depth: ability to design systems, write production-quality code, and own complex technical problems end-to-end.
- Thrives in high-autonomy environments: self-directed, comfortable with ambiguity, and energized by the opportunity to shape technical direction as an IC
- A forward-deployed mindset: thrives on working closely with customers, going deep to understand their needs, and translating real-world problems into scalable, production-ready solutions
- Deep interest in AI x vertical SaaS products
Full Stack & Technical Environment
You’ll be working in a modern, pragmatic stack that optimizes for velocity, reliability, and developer happiness. We don’t chase hype — we use tools that let small teams build production-grade systems fast.
- Frontend: TypeScript, React, and Tailwind — a clean, component-driven setup with strong typing and a bias for maintainable speed.
- Backend: A microservices-oriented architecture written primarily in TypeScript, running on Node.js with Temporal for durable workflows and orchestration.
- Database: Postgres as our backbone — battle-tested, relational, and scalable.
- Infrastructure: Built on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging managed services where it makes sense (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage) to reduce operational overhead.
- Tooling: Structured logging and observability from day one (datadog), and a growing suite of developer-focused automation.
AI: Experienced in prompting and familiarity with Evals and RL
