JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a visionary Software Architect to define and lead our critical application modernization initiative. You will be responsible for architecting the future state of our platform, transitioning from a legacy monolithic system to a scalable, resilient, and cloud-native microservices architecture. This role transcends team-level leadership; you will set the technical direction for the entire ecosystem, establishing standards, selecting technologies, and ensuring our architecture aligns with long-term business strategy. You will act as a force multiplier, guiding engineering teams, driving innovation, and ensuring the technical excellence of our platform. This role will be an architect for 2-4 teams of 4-7 developers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and own the end-to-end technical architecture and roadmap for the legacy application modernization, from monolith to cloud-native microservices.
- Establish and govern enterprise-wide architectural principles, standards, design patterns, and best practices for development, security, and data.
- Lead technology selection and evaluation for the entire stack, making strategic decisions on frameworks, platforms, and tools (e.g., Java/Spring Boot ecosystem, event-driven patterns, data storage solutions).
- Architect for key non-functional requirements including scalability, reliability, security, performance, and cost-optimization on AWS.
- Champion a culture of innovation, researching and introducing emerging technologies and practices (e.g., AI-assisted engineering, serverless architectures) to provide competitive advantage.
- Lead Architecture Review Boards and technical governance processes, ensuring all projects adhere to the defined architectural vision and quality standards.
- Collaborate with CTO, VPs, and Product Management to translate business strategy into a coherent, actionable technology strategy.
- Partner with DevOps/SRE teams to design and evolve the CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure-as-code platform that supports the target architecture.
- Act as the highest-level technical authority, providing guidance and making critical decisions on complex, cross-cutting technical challenges.
- Create and maintain key architectural artifacts (e.g., C4 diagrams, decision records, system context diagrams) to effectively communicate the vision to all stakeholders.
- Mentor and upskill Tech Leads and Senior Engineers, fostering architectural thinking and technical excellence across the engineering organization.
- Drive the adoption of AI-powered development tools and practices at an organizational level, establishing guidelines for their effective and responsible use.
QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 3-5 years in a dedicated Software Architect or Principal Engineer role.
- Mastery of the Java/Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security) and deep knowledge of JVM performance tuning.
- Expert in cloud-native design patterns and hands-on experience architecting on AWS (deep knowledge of ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, IAM, etc.).
- Authority in data architecture, including relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases, caching strategies, and event streaming (Kafka/Kinesis).
- Deep understanding of front-end architecture (Angular) and its integration with distributed backend systems.
