THE OPPORTUNITY

Flock Safety is looking for a Hardware Engineer to develop electronics for Flock’s new and existing Aviation products. You will help shape the design, the implementation, and the effort to scale manufacturing. This role will make an outsized impact by contributing to the electrical design of one of Flock Safety's newest and most important product lines. You will work closely with internal and external engineering teams to deliver peerless, best-in-class aviation products.

This position is hybrid onsite in Atlanta, Georgia.

THE SKILLSET

- BSEE with 5+ years of experience in industry and strong fundamentals

- Design, prototype, or integrate custom electronics for drone airframe platforms including PCBs, cabling and harnesses, power distribution, sensors, communication modules, and battery management.

- Strong foundation in drone airframe design for manufacturability best practices, successful production release, and manufacturing optimization

- Proven track record in airframe system integration including avionics, sensor modules, cameras, batteries, and wireless (GPS, cellular, wifi) modules into drone airframes.

- Strong foundation implementing a flight controller with an ensemble of peripheral control sensors such as IMUs, airspeed sensors, propulsion motor feedback.

- Select and optimize sensors such as IMUs, magnetometers, and current monitors.

- Perform component creation, schematic capture, and PCB layout using Altium Designer.

- Proficiency in both low and high voltage power systems such as battery packs, charging solutions, and DC/DC regulators.

- Partner closely with mechanical and software teams to ensure designs meet safety, performance, and environmental standards.

- Support prototype builds. Make iterative improvements to a given module to investigate the problem space and refine performance.

- Write and execute signal and power integrity test plans for industry standard phase gates such as EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP.

- Debug, rework and troubleshoot hardware or firmware issues during development and field testing.

- Manage EMI/EMC testing and compliance processes to meet regulatory standards for industrial drone airframes (FCC, CE, UL, etc.).

- Comfortable and excited to work in a startup environment with strong sense of ownership.

The First 30 Days

- Get acquainted with the company, the team, the mission, and the product/customer experience

- Conduct a deep dive into both shipping and planned product architecture

- Observe the Flock Culture and learn how it manifests in your team and your day to day experience

- Contribute immediately and incrementally to active design work or technical investigation

The First 60 Days

- Have a deeper understanding of the high level electrical architecture of the existing Flock ecosystem. Recognize its role in our highly vertical customer offering.

- Become deeply involved in an ongoing product design effort - join project standups and related channels to observe Flock’s design methodology.

- Map out plan of maximum impact for near and medium term with manager.

- Deliver substantial value to an active development or investigative effort

- Become completely integrated and fully aware of the onsite aviation development effort.

- Demonstrate full proficiency of all Flock developm
